Red Nails

MAKE IT RED

A classic that keeps surprising

Some colours appear for a moment, while others stay for years. Red belongs to the latter — its shades and character evolve, but it never loses its place in manicure.

 CONFIDENCE, BOTTLED

The shade is only the beginning

Red loves contrast. Against nude it becomes a precise accent, paired with gold it takes on a jewellery-like character, while black brings out its darker side. These combinations give manicure a completely different feel.

THE RED OBSESSION

Always in the game. Red nails and their new interpretations

Red visibly deepens towards the end of the year. Clean, juicy shades give way to cherry, burgundy and reds with brown undertones. Cherry cola continues to hold its ground, while even deeper shades inspired by cherry noir are becoming more noticeable. Classic red is not disappearing — it simply shares the spotlight with colours that offer more depth and a less obvious character.

Cat eye remains one of the strongest trends, although the way magnetic effects are used is changing. A sharp streak of light gives way to softer velvet-like reflections that bring out the depth of red across the whole nail. Jelly and syrup nails remain equally relevant — semi-transparent layers build colour intensity while preserving a glass-like finish. Aura nails and soft ombré follow the same direction, with transitions between shades becoming increasingly blurred. Instead of adding more decoration, the look is built through light, colour diffusion and finish.

The colours paired with red are changing too. Nude remains a natural backdrop for red French tips, but the classic tip is becoming thinner, asymmetrical or reduced to a small accent. Metallic details are also gaining importance: gold still has its place, while silver, chrome and cooler jewellery-inspired shine are becoming increasingly visible. Black continues to provide the strongest contrast, especially in ombré, graphic lines and subtle details. Negative space, irregular colour divisions and designs that do not have to repeat identically on every nail complete the look.

What is only beginning to gain momentum? Red increasingly appears not as a uniform block of colour, but as part of a lighter, layered manicure. Transparent reds over milky bases, stained-glass effects, blurred edges and combinations of several red tones bring a completely different lightness to the colour. Silver is also becoming a strong direction — from subtle chrome accents to fluid metallic lines paired with red. After several seasons dominated by solid colour, attention is shifting from finding yet another new shade to the way red works with the base, light and detail.
